Care of Your Jewellery

To keep your Vizati jewellery in tip top condition, we recommend you follow the appropriate  procedures.

1.   White Satin range of sterling silver with no stones or pearls:

 * use a mild silver dip and quickly dip the entire piece.  Quickly rinse with plain water.  Dry with a clean soft lint free cloth.

* use a silver cloth on the shiny silver portion only.

 2.   White Satin range of sterling that includes stones and/or pearls:

* never dip any pearls or soft stones.  Follow the silver dip manufacturers' instructions according to the stones that may be in the jewellery. A slightly wet cotton bud that has  been dipped in your mild silver dip can be used to carefully clean around the pearls or stones in your piece.

Please follow the manufacturers' recommendations for the silver dip that you have purchased.

 3.    Shiny, highly polished silver only:

* use a high quality clean silver cloth.

 4.    Shiny silver with gemstones:

* use a mild liquid soap to mix with water, brush the stones gently with an old toothbrush. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft lint free cloth.

 5.    Dichroic glass jewellery:

* use a high quality clean silver cloth to polish the silver.  Then, use a 100% cotton cloth to wipe the glass clean.

Remember to avoid exposure of your jewellery to items such as perfume, hairspray, harsh detergents, cleaning fluids, hand cream, soaps, perspiration, make-up, spicy foods, heat sources, chlorine etc.  Keep your new Vizati jewellery individually wrapped and store it in a cool, dry place to reduce tarnishing.

One silver ‘ rule ‘  to remember with your new jewellery is to put it on as the last thing you do before going out the door and take it off as the first thing you do when you return home.  This way your Vizati jewellery will stay in tip top condition!

Sterling Silver Hallmark and Assay

For your consumer protection and peace of mind, we identify and hallmark all of our silver jewellery items with an imprint that states that it is .925 sterling silver.  It is a legal requirement that in the United Kingdom, if the amount of silver used in your piece of jewellery is over 7.78 grams, then it must be sent to the assay office for hallmarking.  This 7.78 grams relates to the weight of the silver only not the weight of any stones.  Hallmarking represents the earliest form of consumer protection historically dating back about 700 years ago.    A hallmark consists of a sponsors’ mark, the fineness number and the assay office mark.  We use the London Assay Office to independently test your item of jewellery and guarantee that it conforms to a specified legal standard of purity.  So, all silver jewellery items that are over the 7.78 grams will come to you with at least these imprints:

Sponsor Mark - This is the registered mark of the maker or sponsor of the piece.  The Vizati imprint is a VZ.

Number Mark - This will be the sign of the weighing scales with the .925 stamp in the middle. It is the mark used by countries which are signatories to the International Conventions on Hallmarking.

Assay Office Mark - At Vizati we use the London Assay Office and their designation is a panther head.
